Palace - Band Atlanta Concert reviews
Franki can still sing.
Seeing Palace - Band last night was one of the most bizarre experiences, it was a sold out crowd of all ages. Our seats were really good in Vegas so I enjoyed it more. And I have seen Jersey Boys twice, once in Vegas and once in Mpls, Carol, my sister-in-law, took us all to that downtown Mpls. He did have four male singers who played the Seasons and he had a full orchestra, However seeing the real Palace - Band was so very strange. Now I thought his music back in the 60's and 70's was rather square and simple-minded, which it is, it is almost all in one key and each song when you listen has rather the same melody. The first hour he sang and played songs that I did not recall, but the second hour he played all his hits, Sherry, Walk like a Man, Big Girls don't Cry, Ragdoll and the list goes on. And he was still able to hit those falsetto notes that he became famous for. Rather humorous but also good to see him bring happiness to so many. It was fun to see people older than ourselves and many jumped to their feet and started to dance. If it had not been for seeing the Jersey Boys I would have never gotten tickets to see him, but it was an experience that will be unforgettable. And the audience just loved him. And his songs were sung by so many and adapted into other forms, some more Motown and some jazz. So it was an evening to remember. Of course back then I was listening to the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and of course before that I liked Aretha, do not forget Chubby Checker, Bill Haley and the Comets, Elvis and Roy Orbison. Then I got into jazz - Ramsey Lewis, Dave Brubeck, and then blues. And then classical music. So I have to confess I never had one of Palace - Band's records but I am glad I saw him and experienced it. Love Jenny.
